Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hairs will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to six weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, nose, ears, neck, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet.

There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair. If waxing is done regularly for several years, permanent hair reduction may be achieved. Waxing is accomplished by spreading a wax combination thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair. Another method utilizes hard wax (as opposed to strip wax). In this case, the wax is applied and is removed with no cloth or paper strips. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin, and is our primary method for bikini and Brazilian waxing.

 In contrast to other methods of hair removal like hair-removing creams and shaving, waxing does not cause cuts or irritated itchy skin that shaving may cause. No harsh chemicals are present in waxing, so, the skin is saved from any damaging effects that chemical hair removers may cause. Hair that grows after waxing is of a finer and softer variety, not rough and hard as after shaving. Waxing does not cause unattractive stubble as seen in just a day after shaving, or otherwise known as the 5 o’clock shadow. For people that have a very dark hair follicle waxing is additionally beneficial as it pulls hair out by the root, so you do not see the remaining dark hair follicle in the skin. (Those of you that have this know what I am talking about.)

Bikini waxing at THEA is also a popular service as we have 3 different types of bikini waxes. Our basic bikini is for our more modest client that would like to feel clean and free from worrying if they are bathing suit safe.

Our French bikini is for our slightly more adventurous swim suit and has more hair removed in a tightly feminine shaped line. Please no shaving for 2 weeks before receiving a wax, and not immediately following sin exposure.
